Community Spotlight | The Toledo Neighborhood of Whitmer-Trilby

Sitting along the Michigan Ohio border, Whitmer-Trilby spans from Secor Road to the Ann Arbor railroad just before Lewis Avenue. It has a southern border of W Laskey Road. The neighborhood falls within the Washington Local School District which currently consists of eight elementary schools (Greenwood, Hiawatha, Jackman, McGregor, Meadowvale, Monac, Shoreland, and Wernert), two junior highs (Jefferson and Washington), and Whitmer High School which includes the Whitmer Career and Technology Center. Whitmer is the largest high school in Lucas County and ranks in the top 20 largest public schools in Ohio. The school district also offers K-12 online schooling through the Panther Virtual Academy. WLS recently broke ground on its new Silver Creek Elementary School. Once open in 2022, it will replace Jackman and Wernert with over 87,000 sq. ft. and 28 state-of-the-art classrooms. Students in the Whitmer CTC Construction, Welding, Architecture, and Advanced Manufacturing Programs will play a role as the Junior Construction Team as part of their hands-on education. If you're looking for a spot to let the kids burn energy, Whitmer-Trilby offers Trilby Park on Shawnee Road and Greenwood Park on Jackman Road. Another fun stop on Jackman is the Get Air Trampoline Park where you can jump around, play dodgeball, let the little ones bounce it out in the Kiddie Court, and so much more. If you're in the mood for something more laid back, Miracle Lanes bowling alley is great for a casual night or a birthday party venue. There are also two golf courses right over the border in Michigan, Maple Grove Golf Course and Bedford Hills Golf Club.
